Embracing Me

I needed to go clothes shopping before we left for vacation.

[insert rolling eye emoji here]

I saw a buy one, get 75% off the second and I figured since I need a pair of regular shorts and Capri length shorts, let me get them. I didn't want to try them on so I bought the size I thought I am currently, since I figured if I went down another size I'd explode in the shorts. But, I didn't take into consideration that the shorts have a full elastic waist. I  wanted to get 2 tank top type blouses to go with my leggings, but I needed them to be big and long so they can cover me enough (well to a certain degree because in my mind, it's never enough). And well, it's kind of hard when you're in the weight loss process, you're not where you'd like to be but you're grateful you aren't where you used to be; but it takes a bit longer for your mind to process that you don't look the same. So, in your mind's eye you continue to see yourself as before. It's a constant struggle with self-image and self-esteem. And so, once I started putting on the clothes while on vacation, I realized I could have and should have bought the shorts another size down because the ones I bought are a bit big on me; and I once again realized that buying bigger clothes makes you look bigger than you really are. Yes, it's a science I have known for years, but trying to rationalize why I bought it bigger made sense.  Sigh.

Fast forward two weeks after my vacation. As I was thinking about the shorts and the clothes, I just had to pause, breathe, and thank God for loving me just as I am. I just had to realize that it's okay to be "under construction" and to deal with the ups and downs while I'm on the journey to a better, healthier me. Now, each time I put on the shorts and tops, I will know that I am continually shedding and losing pounds and inches, little by little, and I will feel happy that the next time I go buy some shorts I can actually buy the smaller size because I know that I will fit into them, and if that's not something to shout GLORY and to praise God for, then I don't know what is!

Father, I thank you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made and You are not finished with me yet!
Hallelujah!

Take a moment and reflect on where you are in your self-improvement journey. Don't dwell on where you'd like to be, but be grateful you're not where you were before. If  you need to make some adjustments, do so without judgement or punishing yourself. Decide to make adjustments and remind yourself you're under construction and He's not finished yet! And, remember, you are certainly not alone!

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Love & Blessings,
Michelle

Words of Wisdom: A Personal Devotional

Many years ago God gave me a prophecy that I would write my own book. I remember we were in our church and I was leading prayer  and the prophecy came. I was so excited! A few years later, one of our leaders sent me an archived document of daily words of wisdom that I would send out to our leaders hoping that the Words given to me by God would in turn impact them and their interactions with the world.  I knew that was going to be my first book. I just had no idea how long it would take me to write it. God kept nudging me very so softly to write, write, write...
But many obstacles (mainly my own self-hindrance) kept providing a detour in my life from what I was supposed to do.  Suffice it to say, I can finally understand the pieces of the puzzle God has been putting together in my life and I can finally see a glimpse of the bigger picture.  I am excited to see how it all turns out! :)

Here I leave the link to my first book, titled Words of Wisdom: A Personal Devotional in hopes that it will be a blessing to all who read it. I know He will bring revelation to your life with the words and promised found in it.

Words of WISDOM is a small personal devotional aimed to bless your life with words that bring encouragement, strength and a fresh revelation from God to your daily life. Along with each word, there is space to jot down personal notes and revelations God gives you as you read them. This devotional is meant to be a part of your daily life to help you live the life of a conqueror.

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Love & Blessings,
Michelle

Coming Into My Own...

Ten years ago, or so, I was listening to a Pastor preach on our role as women and why God created us, based on Proverbs 31. Then and there God began to speak to me about what He wanted from me, and that meant to leave my teaching career and stay at home to raise my family and to enter into full time ministry with my husband. That was met with harsh criticism during the entire 10 years after, from many, many people in my life and those I met along the way; along with so much guilt from my heart for making a decision that meant sacrificing things because our income would change drastically.Yet, I obeyed and our family went through the changes and the struggles.

Yes, we have endured things you couldn't imagine, many things that we have kept to ourselves, but that's not the point of this blog. The point is that because I listened to what God told me back then, I can fully see and understand His plan now. I have done many things during those years working from home, trying to find my purpose. We have gone through a lot in the ministry as well. I can tell you with my hand on my heart that I 100% do not regret obeying His voice back then, and that everything we have experienced since then has only been learning experiences we can look back on now, knowing we are wiser and more knowledgeable. I can look at my daughters and feel satisfied that although they aren't perfect, I know they are being and doing the best they can be and do, and I rest in knowing that they are secure in knowing that I will ALWAYS be there for them, in everything they do.

This is not an apologetic rant, it's just a grateful post from a woman, wife, mother, professional, child of God who has finally come into her own, not by her own strength but by God's grace and mercy. So, here's to you, fellow 'work from home mom', for being obedient to what God has asked of you and your family, I celebrate you! Know you are not alone!

The Wife of Noble Character

10 [b]A wife of noble character who can find?
    She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
    all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
    bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
    she provides food for her family
    and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
    out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
    her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
    and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
    and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
    and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
    for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
    she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
    where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
    and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
    she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
    and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
    and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
    her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
    and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
