Joy, Unspeakable Joy

The time is upon us, let us rejoice, for it's time to celebrate our JOY!

Tremble and reverently fear before Him, all the earth’s peoples; the world also shall be established, so it cannot be moved.  Let the heavens be glad and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigns! Let the sea roar, and all the things that fill it; let the fields rejoice, and all that is in them.
Then shall the trees of the wood sing out for joy before the Lord, for He comes to judge and govern the earth. - 1 Chronicles 16:30-33

Light is sown for the [uncompromisingly] righteous and strewn along their pathway, and joy for the upright in heart [the irrepressible joy which comes from consciousness of His favor and protection]. - Psalm 97:11

Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I Am]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.  -John 16:24

"Joy To The World (Unspeakable Joy)"

Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her king
Let every heart prepare Him room

And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven, and Heaven and nature sing

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns
That all their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy

Joy, unspeakable joy
And overflowing where no tongue can tell
Joy, unspeakable joy
Rises in my soul, never lets me go

He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness

And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love

Joy, unspeakable joy
And overflowing where no tongue can tell
Joy, unspeakable joy
Rises in my soul, never lets me go

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Love & Blessings,
Michelle

Change Your Mindset

It is so important to realize that the way we think leads to what we speak and do.  Often I find myself thinking negatively and I need to stop and shift my mindset and thoughts. When we become aware of our thoughts and our words, we begin to change our mindset and we begin to live differently.
Joyce Meyer's book, Battlefield of the Mind goes into so much detail about this, it is an amazing book and each time I read it, skim through it or pick out nuggets from the chapters, I am reminded that this battle is constant and the more we focus on having a mind like Christ, the more we will see results in our daily walk and change our lives completely.

I do not intend to discuss thoroughly what Joyce discusses in the book, I can't do that to you. This is a book that everyone should read and add to their library, it's a resource for daily living and I wouldn't want you to miss out on all the revelation it holds.  But, I do want to share with you nuggets of what she calls "Wilderness Mentalities", wrong mindsets, that we need to be made aware of in order to shift and change our thoughts and start living a positive life in Christ.  So many of us find it hard to find joy in our Christian walk, and that's because we are struggling with understanding our identity in Christ and understanding why our mind is a battlefield and how we can overcome the attacks that are meant to hinder or even destroy our purpose.
Again, I encourage you to get yourself a copy of the book if you do not have one already, there's so much she shares and I am just going to briefly cover the 10 Wilderness Mentalities we need to overcome.

Joyce describes a Wilderness Mentality to be a wrong mindset that not only affects our circumstances, but also affect our inner life. Much like the Israelites, who spent 40 years in the wilderness, we can find ourselves going around and around the same mountains instead of making progress.
(Deuteronomy 1:6, Colossians 3:2)
She explains that a negative outlook leaves a person miserable and unlikely of making any progress toward the Promised Land.

The first wilderness mentality deals with a person who believes their future is determined by their past and present. This is when someone has no positive vision for their life or future because of their past. They know all too well where they come from, but can't see where they're headed because they are basing everything on their past and present circumstances. Bad thoughts produce bad attitudes and negativity and a lack of gratitude will not allow you to advance into your future. Leave the past in the past and cast your vision for your future!  (Proverbs 29:18, Romans 4:17)

The second wilderness mentality deals with a person who does not want to take responsibility and wants others to do everything for them. To be responsible means to respond to opportunities that are placed in front of you. Taking responsibility for what is in front of us is the best way to learn to change our mindsets and see things differently.  Most new ventures are exciting because they are new, and the excitement will
carry  a person along but will not bring them into the success of the finish line. Personal responsibility cannot be delegated to others, we must be motivated from within to finish the task at hand. Set your mind to do what is in front of you and not run from anything you may find challenging.
(Exodus 32:30-32, 1 Peter 5:6-7)

The third mentality deals with a person who wants everything made easy for them. The problem with thinking this way is that when we find things too hard, our first instinct is to give up. Sometimes we give up in our own minds before we even attempt to do the task at hand, and we don't even realize we've lost the battle when we decide with our minds that it's too hard to even try. We need to set our minds to a right, positive way of thinking and looking at each new challenge as an opportunity to succeed and learn about and not as a task to complain and whine about.   (Deuteronomy 30:11, Philippians 4:12-13)

The fourth mentality has to do with complainers, grumblers and fault-finders. It's all about attitude and how we handle life's situations with a positive or negative outlook. When we live positively, we are setting an example for others, we are shining our light brightly onto others. It's all about how we respond to events and situations when they arise. When we respond negatively, that negativity not only affects those around us, but it affects us, our minds and actions. Each time we complain, we first complain in our minds, which leads to complaining with our mouths. We need to watch our thoughts before they turn into attitudes, reactions and actions. Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.
(1 Corinthians 10: 9-11, Philippians 4:6

The fifth mentality deals with impatience and those who want everything immediately and don't want to wait for anything. Impatience brings negative attitudes. Since we are goal oriented people who always have something to look forward to, we find ourselves waiting for that breakthrough that we want. When we are waiting, we need to learn to enjoy where we are while  on our way to where we want to be. While we wait, we must watch out for pride, and thinking that things should be done as quick as we think they should or would like them to. We need to be realistic, our journey isn't perfect so we must stay positive! Our job is not to control our circumstances but to respond to them in a positive way. When you learn to respond patiently in all situations, you'll be living a quality of life that is enjoyed to the fullest. (James 5:7, John 16:33)

The sixth mentality focuses on the blame game, when you realize your behavior is wrong, but think it's not your fault. There's a lack of taking responsibility for your actions and you blame everyone and everything for what's wrong. You need to get the "if" out of your mind... "If so and so would change...."  "If things were different...."  Change can happen when we are open to it and allow God to do it. If we want to receive His blessings, we must be honest with Him about ourselves. No hiding, but taking responsibility. Honesty and truth bring about change. Truth is a powerful weapon against negativity and a wrong mindset. When we hide ourselves from the truth, we avoid responsibility to take action and begin the process of change within ourselves. (Genesis 3:12-13, John 1:1-5)

The seventh mentality deals with self-pity and misery. Don't throw yourself pity parties. When every inconvenience becomes an excuse to engage in self-pity it is a wrong mindset. Self-pity is a tool that keeps us bound to negativity. It turns into selfishness and self-centered actions because we think since everything is so wrong in our lives, we deserve everything for ourselves. When we stop being a blessing to others and just dwell on our own self-pity, we are trapped in the past and in negativity. When we experience disappointment, we can be re-appointed because God gives us new beginnings!
(Philippians 2:4, Isaiah 43:18-19)

The eighth mentality focuses on the other blame game - shame; when you have a shame based nature and feel unworthy of being blessed. This binds us to living in the past. Feelings of disgrace and unworthiness because of your past will not let you succeed in your future because your mind is set on thinking you don't deserve success or happiness. Rejection and shame cause you to stay in the same painful mindset so that you won't progress into living a life of purpose and destiny. We need to be aware of what goes on in our minds in regards to ourselves. The past must be put in the past and we must look to a better and brighter future.
(Galatians 4:7, Ephesians 1:4)

The ninth mentality deals with jealousy and envy. Having jealousy and envy, and mentally comparing ourselves to and with others is a wrong mindset. Envy means feeling displeasure produced, by witnessing the prosperity of others. Jealousy means having feelings of envy, apprehension, bitterness; being fearful of losing what you have to another. We can't compare or compete with others in our journey of life. We are all unique individuals, created for a unique purpose in life. Examine your thought patterns when envy and jealousy arise because our value is not rooted in what we do, but in the fact that God loves us and sent His only Son to die for us. (Proverbs 14:30, 3 John 2)

The tenth mentality focuses on stubbornness, "it's my way or the highway." Stubbornness vs. wisdom - if we do not walk in wisdom, our stubbornness will lead us in circles all our lives, much like the Israelites.  Stubborn means difficult to handle or work with, rebellious, resisting control or correction, unruly. With wisdom comes obedience. Our purpose in life is to be wise, obedient and respectful of others and of God. When we are rebellious, there is chaos and negativity, and no freedom to progress into your destiny because your mind is in constant resisting of control and correction. When we live like this, we not only destroy ourselves, but those around us as well.  (Psalm 78:7-8, Romans 5:19)

For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,
[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). -2 Corinthians 10:4-5
May our minds be Christ-like and may we learn to be alert and aware of our thoughts so that all negativity can be turned into positivity!

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Love & Blessings,
Michelle

We Declare Your Majesty

How precious it is to come before You,  Oh Lord, and worship you and declare and proclaim Your Majesty.
I delight in worshiping Your Name and entering into Your Presence!

Declaramos Tu Majestad - Marcos Witt  (song is in Spanish but here are the lyrics in English)

We declare Your Majesty
We declare that Your name is exalted,
For You reign magnificently, rule victoriously,
And Your power is shown throughout the earth.
And we proclaim, our God is mighty
Lift up Your Name, for You are Holy
Sing it again, all honor and glory
In adoration, we bow before Your throne.
May your time with God be a marvelous one, as you declare your love for Him.
Blessings!!
It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Portion of Expectation

Originally written and published in Spanish on December 19, 2012

When we are in expectation of a breakthrough, of a miracle, of the fulfillment of what we have been asking and awaiting, of reaching another level in our walk with God and our faith; it is necessary to be filled with HIs Word, declare it, decree it, walk by faith and not by sight, call what is not as if it were, and give thanks because it has already happened in the Spiritual and will soon manifest in the natural. We need to maintain our expectations high regarding what God has already done, is doing and will do soon. We need to maintain our eyes fixed only and completely on Him and not on the circumstances that surround us. We need to continuously and constantly praise, worship, thank and give out hearts and lives in thanksgiving to Him for what He is doing in us and for us EACH SECOND.

This portion is specifically written to help us maintain our expectations in God on big high alert and in constant declarartion of what we are waiting on.  Do not give up. You have fought long enough, in conflict to conquer your territory and have dominion over what is yours, maintain your expectations high and set on that which He has done, it's done! Declare this with me today: I am in expectancy of everything God will do today... I declare it's a day full of favor and blessings, not only for me but for you! I declare that your breakthrough is yours, that your miracle is yours, that your faith and determination pushes you to see in the natural what is already yours in the spiritual.... Something big is coming.... Take it and conquer!!!

"...and you shall know [with an acquaintance and understanding based on and grounded in personal experience] that I am the Lord; for they shall not be put to shame who wait for, look for, hope for, and expect Me."  -Isaiah 49:23

In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].  -Psalm 5:3

I wait for the Lord, I expectantly wait, and in His word do I hope. -Psalm 130:5

This is in keeping with my own eager desire and persistent expectation and hope, that I shall not disgrace myself nor be put to shame in anything; but that with the utmost freedom of speech and unfailing courage, now as always heretofore, Christ (the Messiah) will be magnified and get glory and praise in this body of mine and be boldly exalted in my person, whether through (by) life or through (by) death.  For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity].  -Philippians 1:20-21

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord. -Psalm 27:14

Living Under His Protection

When we live connected daily to our Father, to our source of power, we will find that when those situations come that are meant to harm us, we are protected, shielded, and secure because His Angels are at work for us. The more connected I am with my Father, the more I pray and talk to Him early in the morning, the more strength is given and as I am living out my daily life, I can clearly see what was meant for harm towards me does not work, it's null and void because more powerful is He who is in us!
Today I have nothing but gratitude and Thanksgiving for my Father, for His love and protection over us.
There is nothing better than knowing you are safe in His arms, and no matter what harm comes your way, you are protected! That's how I live everyday!  Thank You, Father for Your shield about me, daily!

Join me today, in offering up Thanksgiving for His protection over our lives!  Join me in declaring this Scripture over our lives, our family, our constant daily ins and outs...
I declare over you that He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world!
HALLELUJAH!

Psalm 16 [AMP]
A Poem of David; [probably] intended to record memorable thoughts.

1 Keep and protect me, O God, for in You I have found refuge, and in You do I put my trust and hide myself.
2 I say to the Lord, You are my Lord; I have no good beside or beyond You.
3 As for the godly (the saints) who are in the land, they are the excellent, the noble, and the glorious, in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who choose another god; their drink offerings of blood will I not offer or take their names upon my lips.
5 The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.
7 I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety,
10 For You will not abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead), neither will You suffer Your holy one [Holy One] to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Michelle

Portion of Protection

As I spent time today in prayer, talking with my Father, I sensed an urgency to pray for those that need protection. Immediately, this promise came to my spirit:
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. -Psalms 91:1-3

It seems as though anxiety, worry, stress and preoccupation occupy our minds, and oppress our spirits so much so that we tend to lose sight of and forget God's promises to us, His creation, His children. As the New Year began, I found myself asking for Peace, asking God to fill my life, my heart, my mind with His Peace. I quickly noticed that the more I asked Him for Peace, the more I found comfort when the stressful times came, weather it be regarding finances, business, or whatever situation may arise and try to come against us. I have come to realize that a good part of the devil's time is spent on trying to make us lose our focus and our concentration on keeping God's Word alive in our heart and spirit. When those anxiety attacks and "worry warps" as I like to call them, come and try to infiltrate our minds and get us to focus on anything other than God's Word, we need to pause, take a break, see the works of the enemy, call him out and declare that we are dwelling and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty! Call upon the overshadowing Power of His Presence and see how quickly that attack will disappear!

If you have been feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, if you need to remember that you dwell under His mighty protection, I say to you this day, that no weapon formed against you will prosper, I say to you that He rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you’re perfectly safe; His arms fend off all harm!  Get up, lift your eyes and your head to the Heavens and declare that you are protected. Your Father is watching over you, over that situation and I call you triumphant and victorious over what you are going through!  He paid it all, He overcame it and it's yours! Claim it and watch Him work in and through you!

Keep these Scriptures close to your heart and soul and the devil will flee at the mention of His name!

The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. -Psalms 121:7-8

But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord. -Isaiah 54:17

Yet the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen [you] and set you on a firm foundation and guard you from the evil [one]. -2 Thessalonians 3:3

For the Lord delights in justice and forsakes not His saints; they are preserved forever, but the offspring of the wicked [in time] shall be cut off. -Psalms 37:28

The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He drove the enemy before you and thrust them out, saying, Destroy! -Deuteronomy 33:27

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Michelle

The God of Hope

During my prayer time this morning, God put it in my spirit to pray for those who are going through a situation of despair. I felt that despair because I have been there before, and I declare that all feeling of despair is replaced with hope in Jesus, and peace. Set your eyes on God, not on the situation and He will make a way where there seems to be none. He will not abandon you, fix your eyes on the Christ of Hope and Peace!

Absorb these Scriptures in your heart and spirit and pray them over that situation and watch the despair leave in the name of Jesus!

Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God. Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.
Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.   -Romans 5:2-5

May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope. -Romans 15:13

Yes, let none who trust and wait hopefully and look for You be put to shame or be disappointed; let them be ashamed who forsake the right or deal treacherously without cause. -Psalms 25:3

Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness...  -Psalms 33:18

Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is he who has the God of [special revelation to] Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, Who keeps truth and is faithful forever... -Psalms 146:5-6

So brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed. -1 Peter 1:13

With a view to this we toil and strive, [yes and] suffer reproach, because we have [fixed our] hope on the living God, Who is the Savior (Preserver, Maintainer, Deliverer) of all men, especially of those who believe (trust in, rely on, and adhere to Him). -1 Timothy 4:10

So shall you know skillful and godly Wisdom to be thus to your life; if you find it, then shall there be a future and a reward, and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off.  -Proverbs 24:14

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. -Isaiah 40:31

Pick yourself up!  There is hope and peace in the Lord!

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Portion of Restoration

As children of God, it is important and necessary for us to remember His promises. As we begin this new year, we should renew our mind and thinking, put the past behind us and look forward to the new year with hope, expectation and anticipation. It is so easy for us to fall into the 'going through the motions' phase, especially if the previous year was a difficult one with many trials. But, as children of the Most High God, we are seated in High Places with Him, we need to keep this in mind, and know that a new year means a new opportunity to access His grace, favor and blessings. Actually, each new day is a new opportunity for this, but it's so much easier to get caught up in all the drama. As we start this new year, let us remember that it's a new page, a new slate and let's wipe away the negative and hurtful memories of 2013, and let's concentrate on all He has in store for us in 2014.

A clear promise He has given us is the promise of restoration. We need to believe it and access it. We can't continue to live our daily lives routinely or mechanically, thinking of what was lost or what was once ours. We need to wake up and realize it's a new day, it's a new hour and restoration is ours! First, we ARE HIS. We are His heirs, so His promise is ours!  And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory. -Romans 8:17 So when we suffer in Christ, we know that His abundance and blessings is ours and that will last so much more!  His anger lasts only a moment, his goodness for a lifetime. Tears may flow in the night, but joy comes in the morning.  -Psalm 30:5
Whatever happened yesterday, is in the past; His goodness and joy is ours to last us a lifetime!
We are His and because we are His, He has promised to restore to us what was lost and taken!
And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One). -Ephesians 2:6

Here are some Scriptures on restoration, ones to keep close, meditate on and declare and decree over all circumstances!

I will seek that which was lost and bring back that which has strayed, and I will bandage the hurt and the crippled and will strengthen the weak and the sick... -Ezekiel 34:16

If you and your descendants will turn back to the Lord and with all your heart obey his commands that I am giving you today, then the Lord your God will have mercy on you. He will bring you back from the nations where he has scattered you, and he will make you prosperous again. -Deuteronomy 30:2-3

For I will restore health to you, and I will heal your wounds, says the Lord, because they have called you an outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no one seeks after and for whom no one cares! -Jeremiah 30:17

You have sent troubles and suffering on me, but you will restore my strength; you will keep me from the grave. You will make me greater than ever; you will comfort me again.  -Psalm 71:20-21

Restore us again, O God; and cause Your face to shine [in pleasure and approval on us], and we shall be saved! -Psalm 80:3

And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten—the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and the crawling locust...  -Joel 2:25

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you. -1 Peter 5:10

As you enter into this new year and seek God's direction with expectancy and anticipation, I declare open heavens over your life, I call God's full restoration into your life and a restoration of your lost years. May the glory on your latter house be greater than that on your former! AMEN! GLORY TO GOD!!!

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Love & Blessings,
Michelle

Daily Portion: Faith vs. Fear

In continuation from the previous post titled Vision vs. Fear, and talking about how fear deters us from our vision, I thought it fitting to write a blog about Faith vs. Fear, since in reality, faith is the only thing that can and will get rid of fear and doubt!  Whether we believe it or not, fear comes up to disturb us and try to take our focus away from what we are called to do, destined to do, our purpose in life. When we come to realize that that fear can be tackled by using faith, we have come to know and live in an untapped power, only given through Christ! Faith is the weapon to use against fear, at ALL times!

Dictionary.com defines fear as a distressing emotion caused by impending danger, evil, pain - whether the threat is real or imagined. Danger, evil, pain.... only Christ can and has overcome those!

Dictionary.com defines faith as belief that is not based on proof.
Interesting how fear is an emotion caused by threat even if it's imagined, and the complete opposite is believing something even when you don't have proof! Knowing this should be enough to get us to STOP concentrating on the fear and letting fear run our lives and emotions, and just trusting and relying on our faith (in God, in Christ, in how He has overcome, in ourselves, in our vision, in what He has promised, in what's to come.........)  I will not fear!

Here are some Scriptures that talk about fear and faith, and when those times arise when we feel less than competent to tackle our purpose, our calling, what we are here to do, let's look back on these Scriptures and let's see what GOD is telling us we CAN do!

What time I am afraid, I will have confidence in and put my trust and reliance in You. Psalm 56:3

Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

The Lord is my Light and my Salvation—whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?  Psalm 27:1

Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom! -Luke 12:32

I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.  - Psalm 34:4

Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice. - Isaiah 41:10

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].   -1 John 4:18

Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. -Exodus 14:13

He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.  -Matthew 17:20

No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.  -Romans 4:20-21

Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God. -Romans 5:1-2

Through Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are [centered and rest] in God. -1 Peter 1:21

I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. -John 14:12

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. -2 Timothy 1:7

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].  For by [faith—trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report. -Hebrews 11:1-2

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson

Daily Portion: Vision vs. Fear

This was a motivational call I did for a fellow Director in our Company and I wrote a blog about it, and wanted to share it with my Daily Portion followers, as this will have a Part 2 entitled Faith vs. Fear. This is not only for business teams, but it can be used for any Leadership type role you are assuming whether it be in church, work or any organization, any team you are building or working with can benefit from what I am sharing here.

Let's talk about vision. What is your vision? Set your vision, write it and believe it. According to Andy Stanley, author of Visioneering, a vision is a clear image of what could be that is nurtured by knowing that's how it should be.  To me, a vision is more than a goal. A vision is what you see your future should be. A goal (long or short term) is a stepping stone or marker that allows you to see that you are heading straight for the vision you have set for yourself.

As Stanley explains in his book, your vision tells you "I could be this....  Maybe I could do this...." And that vision lets you know that that's how it should be! Vision is a preferred future. It's a point in destiny; your preferred future. Your vision requires change because it presents itself in contrast to a present you are living now - as is. A vision becomes reality when we take risks. It requires visionary people who, with heart, soul and passion, can see past what is in front (present) of them and to move past that and act upon the idea, the vision, that has been placed in their heart with much value.

When we talk about vision, that image, that preferred future, that point and place that you know it's where you want to be, that vision does not encompass only one area, it encompasses your entire life, future, and family.  If you set a vision for your business, when you set it and see your preferred future, you see yourself, your family and those around you and those you can help and bless. That's why a vision has to do with passion and value. Because when you can see yourself in a preferred future, better than your present condition, you must know that it will not only affect you, but all those around you, and for the better!

Wikipedia defines fear as an emotion induced by a perceived threat which causes entities to pull far away from it and hide. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines fear to be afraid and to expect worry about something bad or unpleasant. Dictionary.com defines fear as a distressing emotion caused by impending danger, evil, pain - whether the threat is real or imagined. When we talk about fear in our business, the fear that the majority of us face is the "imagined" kind, since I doubt we will have any impending real danger of dying or getting sick because of our vision or setting a goal. The fear that usually comes to deter us from achieving our vision is the imagined fear, the False Evidence Appearing Real type.  It's the fear of failure, not doing my best, what will others think or say. And we come up with so many excuses to not act because of those fears. We "want" to sell, recruit, book parties, coach, train; but we find ourselves having to leave our comfort zone in order to achieve success in those areas. That's where the fear comes in, a distressing emotion of impending pain, the thing is that when it's imagined, it usually tends to be worse than it really is.

As Joyce Meyer puts it, take the focus off of performance - of being judged and criticized by others -that can paralyze us.  Fear stops our own progress. If we make a mistake, we get up and try again. We are all human! We need to just stop focusing on how others will react, how we will perform, if we will be judged, if they say no.... we need to get that fear of failure out of our heads and just tackle those fears in order to conquer that vision, that preferred future!

Andy Stanley gives a few questions we should ask ourselves in order to see what those fears are exactly, to be able to tackle them. If we answer these questions honestly, we should be able to conquer those fears and begin to conquer our vision!
1. What are the things that are currently distracting you from your vision?
2.  What plan of action will you take, what will you do about it?
3.  Within your vision, what is your biggest fear?  What is the worst that could happen?
4.  If that worst happens, what would be the consequences?

If we answer these questions truthfully, then we will realize that we are prepared to handle the worst of the consequences. That should allow us to focus on our vision, knowing that if the worst were to happen, we know how to handle it and move on from it.
We must remember that the majority of times, the fear is in our heads and it isn't as bad as the worst scenario we could ever paint. Know that saying, you are your own worst enemy? Yes, and it's the fear in all of us that becomes that enemy. But when WE know what fear doesn't want us to know, that it's False Evidence Appearing Real, the battle is already won!

Speak your vision and expectations to those around you, to your team members. Let your team members know what their strengths and potential are and how they can use them to better enhance the quality of the team, therefore achieving the expectations that are set before them. Seek out the natural gifting/capability each team member has and let them be made aware of them, praise them for their future successes with those skills and strengths, let them know that they each hold an important place in your team and that they can achieve the expectations 100%.

I put this into work with my own team and I have discovered that when you give your team expectations, they know what they are striving for. I have seen results. I have written and declared my vision for my team for this specific month. And as a team, we all ran with it. Some successes were higher than others, but overall, the team ran with the vision, accepted the declaration and worked hard to achieve the expectation.
Continue to write your vision, set it clear and declare it.
It will come, I promise!

“Write the vision;  make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie.  If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay..."  - Habakkuk 2:2-3
