Portion of Perseverance

Originally written and published in Spanish on April 10, 2012

In front of my house, there's a tree. On this tree and in front of my house there are always birds flying and walking around and resting around the area. Each morning, I can hear the birds chirping and singing. There are always a few birds there and each bird sings differently. As I pray each morning, I can hear them singing. Today, as I prayed, my spirit began to rest in Christ, in His work on the cross, on His blood that was poured out... And, as I rested in Him, the sound of the birds singing filled my room and I could see the nurturing, tender aspect of God's nature, and I could see how He takes care of His Creation.

It really is interesting to see how those birds are always in that tree in front of my house, during the entire year. Winter passes, the tree has no leaves, it is covered in snow and even then the birds are there. Spring arrives, the tree has grown its leaves, so full that we cannot see much outside the window due to the fullness of the tree. And, there are the birds, they remain singing and flying around.

How difficult it is for us sometimes to rest during a "winter" situation, where it seems like there is no fruit or bloom, everything has died, it is cold and at times lonely; where it quickly grows dark and there are even days where the sun does not appear.  Did you know that even in the middle of winter, the birds still sing? Even in the midst of coldness and darkness, the bird is still in its tree... Maybe you will say that he remains there because he has no where to go; or because he doesn't know any better.  And, yes, that may be a reason. But, I believe that it goes beyond that. I believe that the bird continues to sing and remains in his tree, because he knows that Winter will pass and that soon Spring will be here. Sometimes it's much easier for us to stop fighting when the winter situation comes along, and we tend to hide, hibernate, forgetting where we stand.... but if we let winter come and take our place, we lose all we have been fighting for, and then when spring comes, when the fruit starts to grow, we won't see a harvest because we stopped fighting...

I am not sure if you understand me, but I want to tell you today to not stop fighting, nor get out of your place. You have stood in your place and have lasted there for a long time, you've taken your position and there have been situations and attacks in your life that have wanted to knock you down.  I tell you now, persevere!  Don't give up!  You are so close to your Spring, your fruit will begin to blossom and grow! Maintain your position and stance and sing like the bird. Worship God, praise Him, shout with victory and declare and decree that your season is here. Rejoice in Spring and show your fruit for the Kingdom! You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus! Persevere, remain, fight, and remember that the Victory is yours!

In the midst of it all, rest in Christ, He paid it all for you and for me. Come before His presence and rest in Him, find the Peace that only He can give and next time you hear a bird sining, give thanks to God because if He takes care of the birds, He will certainly take care of you and your family and your needs....

Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. - Galatians 3:13-14

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? - Matthew 6:26

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ase and relieve and refresh your souls.] - Matthew 11:28

As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him. Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

It is my prayer that this reflection be a part of your daily portion.

Love & Blessings,
Michelle
